The Great Sorcar
- Description
This photograph ran with the caption, "The Great Sorcar as he stepped off the bus from the aerodrome yesterday with the five girls in his company. They are all relatives of his and are, they say, enjoying our lovely country very much". Sorcar was a magician and illusionist from India, part of a family of traditional magicians. Among his stage attractions was the very realistic sawing of a lady in half and the Indian rope trick. He presented his show over several days in the Palmerston North's Opera House to capacity crowds.
