The centre of this image is the King Edward VII Memorial Fountain, with people sit in the benches that surround it. The photograph shows it in on its second site, in the middle of the pond near the Coleman Mall corner of The Square. The fountain was originally located where the War Memorial stands now - it was moved in 1927 to allow that monument to be constructed. It remained here until it was again relocated close to the corner of The Square and Broadway in 2005.
