The front of this postcard shows a group of recruits erecting tents and attempting to camouflage them with vegetation. It was written by Henry Ward, who served with the New Zealand Medical Corps, No. 3 Field Ambulance, from March 1917 to March 1919. The message reads: "Our first night out at Palmerston North Nov 13th 1917
To my [illegible - possibly Own Girlie]
From Henry."
