Description

Tim Burrton was a black blocks farmer who built the Tokomaru Valley Road extension. In the early 1900's, Mr Burrton bought 429 acres in the Tararuas, where he camped in a tent until Mr Mullin (who owned the adjoining land) told Mr Burtton was disturbing his sheep. Tim then moved further back into the hill, where he built the whare pictured. Tim Burrton is the tall man wearing the hat. He died 15 March 1941 from a serious accident on his farm.
