First Masonic Hotel and Hall, Ashhurst
More Info →- Description
-
The hotel, located on the corner of Oxford and Stortford streets was built in 1893. A J Havill took over the lease of the Masonic Hotel in 1913. The building was destroyed by fire on 10 July 1934, believed to have originated in a defective chimney. Its owners wished to rebuild on another site (on the main road), but the license stated the hotel could only be moved one mile in a straight line.
