Palmerston North dancers, Mark Glastonbury and Karen Ross, were placed first in the “Open to the World” fresher-novice event at the World Ballroom Dancing Championships in Perth, Australia, in 1980. They also gained fifth place in the “Open to the World” fresher-novice Latin American event.
