"Ballroom Championships"
- Description
This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 22 April 1963, "Gowns are always a feature of ballroom championships and this year the luxury and glamour equalled other years. The Y.M.C.A Stadium on Saturday brought the earlier contestants, with their billowing and swirling layers of net bedecked with all manner of glitter. Younger contestants preferred the knee length, others the ankle length. Above are two couples awaiting their turn in the old-time final. They are, from the left Mrs. and Mr. P. J. Shuter, Miss F. Galsworth and her partner, Mr. W. D. Philp, all of Palmerston North."
