This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 16 July, 1963. "Ministry of Works men (top picture) are seen clearing away this tree which fell half-way across the Palmerston North-Shannon highway opposite Massey College in yesterday's strong winds. Mr and Mrs G. A. Eliott, who live opposite Massey College, and who found themselves stranded on their property when this large pine tree, 4ft in diameter, fell across their driveway late yesterday afternoon, soon after their arrival home, stand beside the trunk in the lower photograph."
