Description

Formal group photograph of 6 young men. Seated on the left is William Andrew Chapman (‘Will’ – then aged 16), younger son of local sheep and dairy farmer William Chapman. Also identifiable (standing, left) is Campbell Aitchison who features in other photos – see for instance 2013N_Pi527_006843. Although the photo is mounted on card, there is no information to explain how the 6 are associated. Both identified persons (and therefore the others?) are known to have taken and passed their Junior Civil Service Examination in 1911.
