Church Parade, Awapuni Military Camp

Description

A large group of soldiers stand on parade in front of what appear to be the betting windows at the Awapuni Racecourse. This was home to one of New Zealand’s largest training camps in World War One, and was the sole location for training the New Zealand Medical Corps staff. The inscription on the reverse reads: "Church Parade Sunday
Oct 20 1918
You’ll find me the fourth from end where I have marked X."
