The man on the right is Mr. Thomas Harrison, sowing Kentucky Blue Grass seed on his property near Utuwai. The farm is situated on the Pohangina Valley West Road about two miles south of Utuwai School. The man on the left is unidentified. As can be seen from the blackend stumps and logs, the timber on the land has been recently burned off and Mr. Harrison is sowing the seed among the ashes.
