“Two Big Buildings Going Up, Old Ones Coming Down”
- Description
-
This image was published in the July 16th, 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper.
An extract from the article read: “While one big building is now being demolished in Palmerston North, an even bigger $1million building is planned to replace it. And $430,000-worth of extensions are also being added to the Cosmopolitan Club. Coming down is part of the PDCs building in Church Street. Demolition of this part of the building, between the main store and the Northern building, started about four weeks ago. To the casual observer, it has appeared as if nothing was happening to the building, as the façade remained in place on the Church Street frontage. But behind the façade it was a different story.”
This image forms part of the Manawatū Evening Standard Negative Collection. Unfortunately, only negatives between April and December 1978 are held.
