This image was taken for a story that ran in the Manawatu Evening Standard on 13 April 1963, "Vasi gets acquainted with his new mistress Judith Beale and the Mayor, Mr. G. M. Rennie. Judith won Vasi in "Name the Puppy" competition. She chose Vasi after the christian name of a young Australian girl who saved her little sister from being savaged by a large Alsatian dog."
