Les Davis (b.1900) on his 1920 Excelsior Big X 1000cc Vee Twin Auto-Cycle (note his leather chaps), outside his parent’s house under construction at 171 Albert Street, Palmerston North. Les was the son of James and Harriet Davis, who farmed in the Tiritea/Fitzherbert area c1897-1910, after which they moved into Palmerston North. He worked on the land, and later at the Wanganui Woolen Mills.
