This image was published in the July 2nd, 1978 edition of the Tribune weekly newspaper. It depicts Palmerston North Public Relations Officer Nev MacEwan standing outside the PRO office.
The title of the article read: "Crs' Comments About PRO 'Codswallop'" and centred around comments made by some city Councillors that financial contributions towards the office should be reduced.
Mr MacEwen was a former All Black who took up Palmerston North's PRO role on 15 January 1973 after gaining 15 years of experience in the shipping and travel industries. In 1978 he served a term as president of the Rugby Museum Society.
This image forms part of the Manawatū Evening Standard Negative Collection. Unfortunately, only negatives between April and December 1978 are held.
