Description

Saturday, September 15 was World Clean up Day. Environment Network Manawatu, with the support of PNCC, organized a clean-up day at the Jump’s Park area next to the Awapuni Resource Recovery Facility. Thirty five volunteers, including 9 children, collected 250 kg of rubbish in just over two hours. This amounted to 60+ bags of rubbish.

The event was part of a National initiative, Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week, and a local initiative, Source to the Sea.

Among the people attending were Wilson Hannon and his family, who inspired the event. Pictured is PNCC staff member, Stewart Hays, with some of the rubbish collected.
