Signed image of General Anders, commander in Chief of the Polish army in the Middle East, sent to the Polish Army League

General Wladyslaw Anders was the Commander in Chief of the Polish Army in the Middle East during World War Two. This image was sent to the Polish Army League along with others of the Polish army in Italy. The Polish Army League, founded in Palmerston North, developed a relationship with Polish soldiers through befriending the soldiers. They corresponded with them and sent parcels. The Polish soldiers reciprocated with gifts, to acknowledge their appreciation of the friendship, and New Zealand's response to the welfare of Polish children.
