Isaac Brothers was a building firm operated by Cyril and Bill Issacs. They worked from 393 Ruahine Street. Cyril lived at 399 Ruahine Street. They worked with a product called 'celconite' during this period of time.

Each year the Palmerston North Libraries hold a Christmas party for volunteers, to acknowledge the work they do throughout the year. The event is held on the Ground Floor of the Central Library.

The Virginia Military Institute Brass Ensemble performed in The Square, during a tour of New Zealand. The ensemble consisted of six college cadets who performed with trumpets, trombone, French horn and tuba. In their third year of study, they were lead by Colonel John Brodie and played outdoors to a crowd of approximately 125 people. The military institute is based in Lexington, Virginia, U.S.A. More FM radio station laid a time capsule in the Square, to be opened Jan 1st, 2115. This plaque is placed in concrete on the ground, marking the spot where the capsule is buried.
