Here are the leased premises of H J Lauridsen Blacksmith and Farrier, on George Street Palmerston North. It was located where the Odeon Theatre was once situated - adjacent to the old Woodfield Stables - directly opposite the end of Coleman Mall. Seen is, Mr H J Lauridsen shoeing a horse while his eldest son Johannes holds the horse's head. The Lauridsen family moved to Palmerston North from Denmark in 1907. In 1908 they leased the blacksmith's shop and by 1911 the family had moved to a property at Whitmore Road, Linton, where they resided for more than thirty years. They had strong links with the Danish Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Linton School.
