There was a week of events to celebrate Palmerston North being granted Borough status in 1877. Marching teams in Rangitikei Street are: P and T Grenadiers (2nd team from right), employees of the Post Office Telephone Exchange. From front - Vera(?) Morrell; Eunice Penn; Pam Walker; Caroline Jennings (nee Scott); Unknown; Matson House (4th team from the right). From front - Jocelyn Flowers; Janice Flowers; Barbara Woodill; Fay Johanson; Doreen Ball (nee Elsmore); Barbara Hardie; Fay Trembath; Dawn Louden; The Ambassadors (7th team from right), senior Foxton marching team. From front - Audrey(?) Davies (coach's daughter); 2 unknown; June Cox; Kyra Moutter (nee Byne); 3 Unknown; Lorraine Cressell (nee Marshall), leader of Junior teams. Other teams may have included Weld Motors, Madge Motors, Motor Lines or Van Lines.
