Richard Blythe with Copper Structure at Palmerston North Girls' High School

Mr Richard Blythe, a pharmacist who went to night school to learn enameling, completed this copper sculpture for the Palmerston North Girls' High School Library. He was commissioned by the Old Girls Association to design and make work for the Library after the School Jubilee in 1977. The sculpture depicts four knights in the age of chivalry and is a tribute to a former principal, Miss E E Stephens, who established the School Library. Miss Stephens died in 1977. From left: Mr Blythe, Mrs Robson and Mrs Helen Thompson, the Principal.
