This image is from a series of souvenir cards that show various locations around Palmerston North. This card shows a view of one of the cannons that once stood in The Square. They were purchased in 1909 by the Palmerston North Borough Council. Both cannons were removed and scrapped during the 1940s.

This image is from a series of souvenir cards that show various locations around Palmerston North. This card shows a foutain in The Square, designed and constructed by the Beautifying Society in 1906. The fountain was made of concrete and the central rockery of concrete and stone. In 1926, the Kind Edward Coronation Monument was removed from the centre of The Square and was re-sited in the middle of the fountain. Today the fountain sits in the corner of The Square near Broadway Avenue.

This image is from a series of souvenir cards that show various locations around Palmerston North. This card shows the old Post Office that once stood on Main Street East. It was opened in 1906. The building was later extended along Main Street, and the tower was removed after the 1942 Wairarapa earthquake, as it was considered unsafe. The clock and chimes put into storage until reinstated in a clock tower in The Square, which was completed in 1957. The building still stands today [2018].
