This photograph came from a small photograph album that belonged to Mrs R Andrews of Rangitikei House. This photograph bears the caption, "View of dam, Mangahao Hydroelectric Works." The Managhao Dam, completed in 1924, is situated inland of Shannon, and continues to supply electricity to a wide area today.
