The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) garden party to raise funds was held at 'Nettleworth', Ihaka Street, Palmerston North, the home of the President, Mr W Jacques, to which the children from the Polish Children's Camp in Pahiatua were invited. Shown are Mr William Jacques with Jan and Henricka Holender from the camp. William Jacques was a lecturer at Massey Agricultural College, and was also Chairman of the Polish Children's Board of Guardians.
