Description

This mural was created by Palmerston North artist Swiftmantis as part of the Street Prints Papaioea project.

Street Prints Papaioea took place in Palmerston North from January 16th to the 22nd. The event will showcased 18 street artists painting 18 murals throughout downtown Palmerston North. International artists from the United States, Ireland, UK, Greece, Tonga and Australia, and other countries took part in the Community Event to alongside five local artists from Palmerston North and artists from around Aotearoa. Presented by Pushing Arts In Nz Trust (P.A.I.N.T.) and Palmerston North City Council, SP Papaioea is a unique street art festival that aims to connect the community with art. SP Papaioea was inspired to combine art with Manawatū’s rich history, beautiful lands and people. It hopes to unify the local community and remind the residents of who they are by creating inspiring artworks. The event enabled street artists from around the globe to grow both artistically and share their talents by gifting inspired artworks based on the Maori proverb; "kua kākahutia te Rangimarie" the English translation being "under the cloak of peace"/
