It is thought this photograph is of some of the chorus in the Palmerston North Operatic Society production of 'The Cingalee', performed at the Opera House November 1-5, 1921. 'Boobhamba' is a nobleman and one of the lead parts in this 1904 musical. This particular showing was produced by Mrs Albert Russell.
