Carting Sawn Timber from Wilson Brothers' Sawmill, Pohangina Valley
- Description
The donor states that the horses and wagons in this photo were owned by his father, the late Mr Pat Hanlon of Ashhurst. This photograph is thought to have been taken on the eastern side of the Pohangina River in the vicinity of Totara Reserve. The road in the photo may be the old road which went through the Totara Reserve (south of Opawa Road), along the riverbank at the base of the bluff by Coomb's property and crossed over to the west side of the river opposite Wagstaff's property (about 2 miles north of Beehive Creek). The timber came from the Wilson Brothers' sawmill which was operating in the Totara Reserve vicinity (near Opawa Road). (Information correct at 1970).
