Description

Alfred Richard Stace (died 1909), arrived in Aokautere about 1875. He married Emily Robert, daughter of C. W. and Annie Robert of Stoney Creek. Alfred purchaesd land at the end of what is now Staces Road, where he ran a dairy farm. Staces Road was formed in 1889 at a cost of £210, but Alfred and other settlers on the road had to pay 1/7th penny in the pound on the rateable value of their properties to replay the loan. The home was later occupied by the Gosling family.
