Two pieces of differing information have been presented about this image.

1. That the women are campaigners, dressed as Red Cross nurses to raise money during World War One. From left: Unknown; Elizabeth Macaulay (later Thompson); Sara Macaulay (later Aitchison); Jean Curle.

2. That the women are nurses who worked during the 1918/1919 pandemic. Names as above.
