Description

A pair of metal seals, one with reversed engraving and the other a mirror image. This set would have been used in a hand press to generate an impressed image, with the design pressed into the paper or wax. The seals are 65mm across and depict the Palmerston North 'City Crest'. The words around the outside of the seal read 'COMMON SEAL OF THE MAYOR, COUNCILLORS & CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF PALMERSTON NORTH'. This seal would have been used on official and legal documents.
