Laurvig Family

This picture is thought to be of Edward Andersen Laurvig and family, of Norsewood. Edward and his wife Karoline "Lena" (nee Sorensen), arrived in New Zealand in 1872 from Larviken, Norway onboard the "Hovding". Lena died 2 July 1879 aged 32 whilst giving birth to her seventh child. The family lived in Palmerston North in 1883, when E. A. Laurvig & Co. took over A. H. Ihle's Hokowhitu Sawmill.From left to right: Maria (b. 1876), Didrick Mangus (b. c 1870), Ellen (b. 1878), Edward A. Laurvig (b. c 1849), Anna (c 1868-1908), Ludwig Edward (b. 1879), Maren (b. c 1871), and Caja (1874-1908).
