Display of gifts from Polish soldiers
- Description
The gifts went sent to the Polish Army League, based in Palmerston North, by the soldiers of the 3rd Carpathian Division in Italy. They were made by Polish soldiers to give to New Zealand as an expression of their heartfelt gratitude for New Zealand's treatment of the Polish children refugees and appreciation of the great friendship shown to the soldiers through the sending of correspondence and parcels, during World War Two. The exhibition was held at the C M Ross department store (now the Palmerston North Central Library), and the image shows some of the gifts in one of the shop windows.
