Ohakea Air Base hosted the Ohakea Trophy car race as part of the Grand Prix circuit, 1950 - 1956. Photograph shows Morrie Proctor's mechanice, both of Wellington, with a Brooklands Riley car 1089cc. In 1951 Morrie Proctor came third in the 2nd Ohakea Tropy driving a Riley 9 Special/Riley 1087cc 4cylinder car.
