Description

This illuminated address was given to William Lee Baron Plunket on his taking up residency in Palmerston North in 1908.

William Plunket, 5th Baron Plunket was the Governor General of New Zealand (1906-1909) when fire destroyed the official residence in Wellington. "Woodhey" (now called Caccia Birch), home of the Strang family at the time, was chosen as the temporary residence for the Governor General and the family resided there 1908 - 1910.
