Local historians weekly "Back Issues" article in the Manawatū Standard. The history and construction of Palmerston North City Council Civic Administration Building and Convention Centre. Construction of the brutalist style buildings started in October 1974, with the last stage completed in October 1980. The $10.6million complex was controversial, both for its architectural style and the amount of public money spent to build it.
