Description

Banner hanging from the front of the Edendale flats building, reading 'We Shall Not Be Moved'. The protest also related to the Penrose building next door. Fair Investments owned the two blocks of flats built in 1949 and the protest was against their plans to demolish the buildings, and the eviction notices served on the tenants. The Palmerston North City Council became involved and subsequently bought the flats for Council housing and relocated them 80 metres along Rangitikei Street in 1984, near the entrance to Queen Elizabeth College.
