The City Librarian, Mr. I W Malcolm and the Deputy Librarian, Miss N M Irvine, admire the new Mobile Library. The new vehicle replaced the caravan Library which had been in use since 1969. It was 30ft long, 8ft wide and 11 ft tall, weighing 5 tons. The new mobile library was painted two shades of blue and displayed the Palmerston North coat of arms, adapted to suit the Library. It carried a book stock of 3,000 books which included 1, 400 books for children.
