Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Palmerston North 6-7 January 1954, staying overnight at the Grand Hotel. The city was decorated to welcome them. The T&G Building is shown here flying the British flag and the Bank of Australasia (brick building in front) is decorated with crowns.
