Albert Tingey (1863-1925) was the local manager of Messrs R & E Tingey, Painters and Decorators, Palmerston North. He served as a Borough councillor for Palmerston North 1893-1896, and was also Captain in the Fire Brigade for 25 years 1883–1908, including as Superintendent from 1887-1908. A volunteer Fire Brigade was formed in palmerston North 30 December 1877, becoming official in 1887. (Enlarged from a small portrait F 7).
