The celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Palmerston North, a programme of events was held from 15 to 22 March 1952. This included a "Parade of Representative, Historical, Decorated and Amusing Floats" on Saturday 15 March; and a parade around The Square of "Cavalcade of Transport Through the Ages," on the afternoon on Wednesday 19 March.
