A postcard image of the Woodville end of the Manawatu Gorge. The Ballance Bridge over the Manawatu River was opened in 1904 and has since been replaced. To the right of the road leading into the Gorge is the Palmerston North to Napier railway line that opened in 1891. The tunnel seen was daylighted (removed) in 2008 to allow for larger freight cars.
