This illuminated address was presented to William Park, by the Palmerston North Borough Council, on the birth of his son. It also acknowledges his work as Mayor of the city.

William Park (1856-1938) was Mayor of Palmerston North 1893-1895, and a Borough Councillor a number of times between 1884 and 1901. He was a bookseller, stationer, newsagent and importer of fancy goods, toys and musical instruments, by trade, based in The Square.
