The royal couple visited Palmerston North as part of their New Zealand tour in 1927. The Duke of York stands to attention after inspecting troops of Scouts, Girl Guides and the Seventh Battalion New Zealand Army’s Guard of Honour. The Duchess of York can be seen on the left, in the light coloured outfit. The Duke and Duchess became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1936.
