Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 2 July, 1963. "The Manawatu Junior Road Safety Committee, which held its monthly meeting last night, has now been in operation from 1958. The committee operates under the guidance of the Transport Department and members of the senior Road Safety Committee. The object of the committee is to promote road safety from a teenage point of view as members must not be over 20 years of age. To date, many useful suggestions have been forwarded to the appropriate quarter through the secretary (Miss Ngaire McDonald) and the chairman (Mr Kevin O'Hagan). The Transport Department feels that this committee of teenagers plays a healthy part in promoting safety among the drivers of tomorrow. The committee is seen with Mr A. Cawley (road traffic instructor, back row on the left). Third from left in the centre row is Mr O'Hagan and on his left is Miss McDonald."
