Description

This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 2 May, 1963. "Delivery was taken this morning of a new 1800 gallon milk tanker for the Palmerston North milk processing station. This is the first of a future fleet of similar vehicles for the conveyance of chilled milk from the sheds to the processing station. The milk will be lifted from the sheds at 40deg, arriving at the station in far better condition. The tankers will replace the old method of collection by cans. The top photograph shows Mr P. T. Jamieson (right) chairman of the Palmerston North Milk Processing Board, and Mr D. S. Harris, the manager of the station, taking delivery of the new tanker. The lower photography shows one of the old trucks with a load of cans."
