This skimming station on the corner of Roberts’s Line and the Bunnythorpe-Kairanga Road was owned by J Nathan & Co. Ltd., of Wellington, and supplied cream to their butter factory at Makino, near Feilding. This photograph shows the long line of carts which was a typical sight at a skimming station in the early years of that century. The carts contained cans of whole milk, the skimming station separated the cream from the milk and the farmers then retuned home with skimmed milk for feeding to pigs and calves.
