Description

This photograph shows the MacLennan Family outside of the family residence on the Oroua Downs Estate.John MacLennan started as estate manager of Oroua Downs in 1878. He was responsible for introducing Romney Marsh sheep to the estate. He was a founder of the Longburn Freezing Woks. MacLennan purchased the land from the original Oroua Downs Estate after the owner Robert Campbell died in 1889.
