Terrence E R Hodgson was born in Otago in 1956. He graduated in music from Canterbury University and studied architechture at Auckland University in 1978. He authored many books in his lifetime - including 'Fire and Decay: The Destruction of the Large New Zealand House' and, most recently, 'Proud Possessions: Architectural Style and the Old New Zealand House'.
