"After winning in record time by more than a length of the Municipal swimming pool, in the 1760 yards freestyle event at the Manawatu swimming championships on Saturday, T. Sutherland (Kiwi) climbs from the pool, exhaustion written on his face. Behind Sutherland can be seen second place-getter R. Jenkinson (Hokowhitu)."
