This image was taken for a story that ran in The Manawatu Evening Standard on 18th February 1963. "Almost beating the starter's gun, these girls set off from the side of the Hokowhitu swimming baths on Saturday in the 50 yards junior backstroke event. The race was one of the competitive series between teams from Waipukurau and Hokowhitu."
